Slither Sounds: Saturday Morning Slow Jams

Welcome back to Slither Sounds!

In today’s blog, I am pleased to spotlight a series of YouTube videos that have reached their finale this morning. If you haven’t yet, fill up a bowl with your favorite cereal and some milk and groove it on in with some…

Saturday Morning Slow Jams

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to hear a mellowed out version of “Chip ‘n  Dale Rescue Rangers?” Did you ever imagine you and your partner could make awwww-shucky-ducky-time to the tune of “Transformers?” Does the idea of a trio of talented R&B vocalists singing “The Powerpuff Girls” sound like a good time? Well this totally rad playlist is what you need to soak in!

Featured all over the web since the spring, musician Scott Bradlee‘s Saturday Morning Slow Jams is a series of live-music videos provided on his YouTube channel. They combine some of the theme songs of our beloved old-school cartoon shows with the vocals, instruments, solos, vibes and pace of a 90’s R&B slow jam. Joined up with a variety of singers and performers for each song, Scott (on keys) and the charismatic Steve Sweat (on EWI*) brought us a new jam nearly every Saturday– enough to fill an album which you can purchase on iTunes.SMSJ_TF

The tunes they covered, aside from the aforementioned jams, include: Animaniacs, Pokémon, Duck Tales, Gummi Bears, Muppet Babies, Darkwing Duck (their most requested theme), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Sailor Moon and today’s release My Little Pony. I’ve embedded a few more videos below, but seriously, subscribe to Scott’s YouTube channel today and buy that iTunes album immediately.

Every Saturday Morning should have a Slow Jam!
