Guilty Pleasures

Other than certain aspects of my life, Classick is pretty much an open book online. But what you might not know is that other than action, fantasy, sci-fi, drama and sports documentary, there is a certain genre of movie that I am actually quite enamored with. Two words… ROM COM! Yes, Classick digs the romantic comedies!

Now let’s be clear, we’re not talking just any rom com!! I’ve sat through and despised How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days and will never forgive my relatives for making me sit through numerous Tyler Perry films (what’s next? Madea Joins the UFC and Fights GSP?), however there are some films within that genre that are more hit than miss with me.

But listen, fellas, there’s nothing wrong with enjoying a good love story every now and then. And if you can curl up with the Mrs. (or Miss) and share some popcorn while this plays, then that’s points for you! I’ve watched these flicks on dates and alone, but I have no shame in saying that I enjoy them. I’ll humor you with a few of them (posters and trailers below):

This one I caught on cable. Was hesitant to watch it after sitting through “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”, but I liked it!

Marty McFly finds love in NYC.

Billy Crystal as an NBA ref was enough to get me into the theater. The actual love story itself was enough to make me buy this movie on DVD. Bonus points to any film that ends with the climactic kiss on the halfcourt of MSG.

People love Pretty Woman, but to me this was the better flick.

Meg Ryan leads the league in rom coms. Kevin Kline killed it playing a swarthy Frenchman who wants to open up his own winery.

Hugh Grant at his best, and that Sandra Bullock lady ain’t too bad either.

Steve Martin. ’nuff said…
